VoiceMoir Guides

Talk for two minutes a day. Leave a book behind.

VoiceMoir is a diary you keep by speaking. Say how your day went, and your own words come back as dated chapters you can reread — and one day, as a book your family can read.

Sample chapter page: a dated entry and a friend's words quoted with his name Sample book cover: a thin mood line, the title Biography and the author's name
Sample. Made by the same code that makes your book: a cover with your mood line, a dated chapter, and a friend's words under their own name.

How it works

Three steps, no typing

Talk

Tap the microphone and tell it about your day, in any of six languages. Two minutes is enough.

It is written down and put in order

Your recording becomes text, and your own sentences are sorted by date and gathered into chapters. Nothing is added for you.

A book remains

Your entries become a book you can read, correct and download as a PDF — with your family tree inside, and with the person who receives it after you.

Under the hood: your recording is transcribed, and your own sentences are arranged into chapters. Nothing is invented for you, and your voice is never copied or imitated.

Two ways

For yourself — and for the people you love

For yourself

A diary you keep by talking. Say how the day went, and it comes back as dated entries, a mood line and, over time, the book of your life: who you are, the road you took, what you value.

For your mother, father, grandmother

Sit down together and record their stories: every person in your Tree of Life can have a book of their own. Each entry marks who is speaking — the person themselves, you, or a friend — so their own words stay in the first person, and everyone else's are quoted with a name: “Robert, a friend, recalls…”

Books about your relatives are passed on together with your own.

Privacy and ownership

Your words stay yours

Only what the app actually does. The full details are in the privacy policy.

What is stored
Your recordings, their transcripts, your entries, photos and the book. The audio file is kept for 90 days, so you can check what was said, and is then deleted. The text stays for as long as your account exists.
Voice on our servers, text in an analysis service
Speech is turned into text on our servers, the audio file is not passed to anyone, and your voice is never copied or imitated. For the daily summary and the book, the text of an entry — not the voice — is processed by an external text-analysis service, DeepSeek; locking an entry does not change that, it keeps the entry out of the book, the family circle and your legacy. Details are in the privacy policy. No advertising, no selling of data.
Locked entries stay out
Mark an entry as private, and it will not go into the book, will not be shown to your family circle and will not be handed to your heir.
The book is yours to take
Download the PDF at any time, on any plan, and keep it wherever you like.
It reaches the people you choose
Name up to three people. Each receives the book by a code sent to their email and can read it without installing the app — when you send it yourself, or after six months without you, with a warning to you a month before.
Delete everything
In the app: Settings → “Delete account” — immediately and irreversibly, together with entries, audio, photos, tree and book. If you no longer have access to the app, email support@voicemoir.com from the account's address. Delete account

What is inside

What VoiceMoir does

Speak, don't type

Tap the microphone and talk. Speech recognition works in six languages.

Every day, summed up

It reads the mood, pulls out topics and tags, writes a summary and asks you a question worth thinking about.

Your patterns

Mood over time, your most frequent themes, days in a row. Understand yourself through your own words.

Search your own life

Ask anything — “When was I happiest?” — and the answer comes from your own entries.

Your biography

Your entries become the book of your life: who you are, the road you took, what you value, what you learned, where you are going.

Family tree and legacy

Build your family tree, export it as GEDCOM for MyHeritage or FamilySearch — and name the person your book reaches when you are gone.

Questions

Common questions

Do I have to type?

No. You talk, and the app writes it down. If you prefer, you can type an entry instead.

What if I miss a day?

Nothing is lost. The book is made from whatever you have told so far — a week later or a month later. The day streak on the home screen is only a nudge.

Can I edit the text?

Yes. Every entry can be corrected by hand, and your correction is what goes into the book. The text of the book itself can be edited too.

Who gets the book after me?

The people you name in Legacy — up to three. They receive a code by email and can read the book without the app: when you send it yourself, or after six months without you (we write to you a month before). Locked entries are never included.

Can I delete everything?

Yes. In the app: Settings → “Delete account” — deletion is immediate and removes entries, audio, photos, tree and book. If you no longer have access to the app, write to support@voicemoir.com from the email linked to the account.

Do you print the book?

No. The book is a PDF in book format (140 × 210 mm) that you can download on any plan and print yourself or at any print shop.

Is there an Android version?

Right now VoiceMoir is available for iPhone on the App Store.

Is my voice kept or used anywhere?

The recording is kept for 90 days to turn it into text and let you check it, then deleted; the audio file itself is not passed to anyone, and your voice is never copied or imitated. The transcript text — not the voice — is processed by a text-analysis service, as described in the privacy section.
